birthdays suck

I kinda don't like that word, but I also kinda say it a lot. I saw this on pinterest, and HAD to make it. Luckily I know several people with too close to Christmas crappy December/January birthdays. It was so easy.
1. Wrap Styrofoam cube with wrapping paper.
2. Put lollipops in top of cube
3. Make a cute sign

bath towels

My sister's SIL made these darling bath towels for the kiddos. Are you dying at the cuteness? I know I am.

Christmas Cheer

After busting out the glitter and pulling together the neighbor gifts, it's finally starting to feel like Christmas around this place.

pinterest hair

I saw this hair on pinterest forever ago. I've been wanting to do it forever. I finally tried it on roommate Suzie's hair last night. I love how it turned out. I also love that her head looks like a mannequin head. You french braid the hair, but you drop a strand each time.

Gift Idea

I love makeup. I love eye makeup. I really love MAC eye makeup. One of the amazing moms I work with gave me this for Christmas. I love it!

book club

I got to host book club again in October since we never talked about the book last time. We had witchy hats (that I probably saw on pinterest) and hummus with pita chips and peppers. Mauri and Aly showed up all matchy matchy (which I not so secretly kind of love). We chit chatted and ate and had a great night.

I loved my bamboo infinity scarf so much I HAD to make more. They really are a pretty simple sewing project. I wore the pattern scarf to work, and everyone loved it. I must make more!

bamboo infinity scarf

It's that time of year again for all things winter. Even though I really dislike winter, I do like a few things about winter like scarves. Bonny and I got together yesterday and make these scarves adapted from this tutorial. The bamboo fabric is so soft. I want one in every color.

ya never know

Please excuse the pictureless post. I'm supposed to be working right now (It's 7pm though so I don't feel too guilty), but this is blog worthy if you ask me. I've kind of been dying over the blog world lately. Confession...I'm a little jealous of all the bloggers who have tons of followers. I kind of want to be one of those, but I usually feel like only 2.5 people read my blogs. Well, I guest posted last week over on roommate Suzie's blog. Only 2 people commented which made me think less than 2.5 people actually read my blog. Roommate Suzie just called to inform me that 66 people viewed my post and in her words "you're way cooler than you think you are". Way to make a girl's day! I feel so popular even if it really is only for a minute. Thanks for reading people (whoever you are).

Guest Posting

We all know I LOVE summer and HATE winter. I know I know. I live in Utah, and Utah has winter and snow...lots of snow. I'm guest posting over on Suzie's blog today on my plans for surviving winter and beating my seasonal anger disorder this year. Check it out here.

Halloween Crafting

Ashley showed me these pumpkins, and I practically died at the cuteness. She made them, and they turned out so cute. After I painted the pumpkins, it inspired me to get it together and get the rest of my Halloween decor up. My current residence isn't the most conducive to holiday decorating, but I put up a few crafty things to feel festive.

spray painted pumpkins and used craft paint to free hand embellish with circles and stripes

finished product on the porch

candy corn wreath from last year

i mod podged scrapbook paper on these letters a few years ago. they used to go on a shelf at my old place. since there's no shelf here, i tied ribbon and hung them on the door.

ashley's pumpkins...so cute. once i saw hers, i HAD to have make my own.

freezer meals

When co-worker Brianna was on bedrest before little Ruby came, other co-worker Aly and I went to her house and made freezer meals. We found a few things online and supposedly made 32 servings of food(bbq chicken and curry chicken) for $37. I will definitely make them again.

multiple project craft day

We wanted to get in one more skip work and craft day before Brianna had her baby so after lots of arranging we found a day. Most people didn't end up making it even Brianna, but we did some great projects.

Kimber's dessert stands. She found plates and stands at DI and spray painted them red. I think I NEED them.

ribbon and felt flower belt. how to here

necklaces from ties. to die for cute. Mikael the self proclaimed uncrafty one found this tutorial, and made her own darling necklace. i must make more of these.

I really really love craft day. It makes me feel just a little bit like a stay at home crafter.

another yarn letter

I spent a spontaneous evening of crafting with Brynn over at Blooms & Co. She worked on flowers while I made this wedding gift. I love the green and brown. I think this is my favorite one so far.

Stuffed Zucchini

I don't know why this blog is turning into a food blog all of a sudden. It's probably because I've had zero time for real crafting lately. I saw this recipe on Pinterest a while ago, and I've been dying to try it ever since. I finally made it for dinner tonight, and it is delish.

food craft

I made these darling ice cream cone cake pops for Chelsea's bday back in April and have been wanting to make them again ever since. I figured co-workers' Aly and Michelle's bday was the perfect excuse. It seems most good ideas have a little complication.

First the majority of the box of mini ice cream cones was completely crushed. Since it's Sunday, I had to come up with plan B...ice cream cones turned ice cream sundae. I bought 2 bags of m&ms and ended up with 19 red ones. Luckily I found another bag in my kitchen. I wanted to scream a few times along the way, but I've already practically forgotten what a pain in the rear they were and will most definitely make them again.

kiddie craft

I saw this fun rice craft on a random blog and have been dying to try it with the little tykes. It's so simple and so fun.
1. Put about 1/3 c rice in ziploc
2. Squirt hand sanitizer or rubbing alcohol in bag...just enough to set the color
3. Put food coloring or paint in bag
4. Squish to mix
5. Play

4th of July wreath

I went down to Vegas for summer break this week. Chelsea mentioned she might want to make a 4th of July wreath so I brought some stuff down. We found something similar to this on Pinterest (my new obsession) and got to work. The worst part of the whole thing was wrapping the wreath in yarn.

Chelsea's wreath
Chelsea's turned out so cute I had to make my own
I might be a little obsessed with bandana right now.

Supplies
wreath form (we used the straw kind because they're the cheapest)
white yarn
red and blue embroidery thread (to wrap around the wreath)
red, white, and blue pins (to stick the circles and stars in the wreath...instead of hot glue)
red, white, blue, and confederate flag bandanas (hobby lobby for $0.99 each)
various red, white, blue material
blue ribbon

How to
wrap wreath form in white yarn (if you do it thick you might only have to do 1 layer)
cut stars and circles from material and bandanas
wrap embroidery thread around wreath weaving back and forth as you go
arrange circles and stars on side of wreath and pin in place
hang wreath with ribbon and attach circle at top (pin into knot to hold in place)
so easy and so cute!

mylar flowers

Michelle and I decorated co-worker Mikael's desk for her birthday. We made a poster from butcher paper that needed a little something else. I love love love how these mylar flowers turned out and will definitely make them again. I used strips of mylar and rolled them like the fabric flowers. I used tape to hold them together. So cute!
