Doily Cards

somehow this post got a little forgotten about last week

I saw these on pinterest forever ago and have been dying to make them ever since. Brianna and I finally made them last night. They are so easy and cute. Literally anyone can make these. We added chalk to some, and those are my favorite.

birthday party invitations

When super crafty co-worker Emily emailed me and asked if she could hire me to make her son's birthday party invitations, I got nervous. She is way more crafty than I am but just didn't have the time to pull something together. The party didn't really have a theme except it was a mixed gender party for a boy turning 11. Talk about scary... I got on pinterest and found some cute ideas. I mostly followed this tutorial from Capernaum Home.

get ready for lots of tracing and lots of cutting. a cricut would have been really helpful

after all the cutting, i did lots of writing with all the party details.

glue with hot glue. i started with a glue stick, and it just wasn't sticky enough. i mostly use hot glue for everything.

i didn't take pictures the confetti i put inside with the pendants. this is a toilet paper roll wrapped in wrapping paper. this was the worst step of the whole thing.

i was pretty happy with the way they turned out, and emily and her son loved them...phew

Church Lesson Handout

Last week's lesson in Young Women was about self-reliance. We talked about James E Talmage's parable of the unwise bee. I got this author unknown quote and idea to use fortune cookies from sugardoodle. I bought the little bowls at Target and bee stickers at Hobby Lobby. I traced circles for what felt like forever and put it all together with a glue stick. It was a pretty simple craft project to go along with my lesson. If only I could figure out a simple way to get all the girls to actually show up for church.

"fortunate is the young woman who realizes self reliance has less to do with reliance on self and more to do with reliance on God"

welcome banner

co-worker becca is having a baby any day now. former co-worker nicole is coming to cover her maternity leave. becca decided last second she wanted to do something to her desk to make nicole feel welcome. being the crafty one means people look for me when they want a craft especially a last second craft. we literally had 30 minutes to pull something together. luckily we have a die cut machine with the perfect shapes for a neon welcome banner. we pulled together a few office supplies and voila...we have a welcome nicole banner.

Supposed to be a card

Co-worker Marsha asked me to make a going away card for other co-worker Angie. I wanted to say no. I really wanted to say no, but I couldn't/didn't. In true over the top fashion, it turned into more of a book. It's cute and simple.

Halloween Crafting

Ashley showed me these pumpkins, and I practically died at the cuteness. She made them, and they turned out so cute. After I painted the pumpkins, it inspired me to get it together and get the rest of my Halloween decor up. My current residence isn't the most conducive to holiday decorating, but I put up a few crafty things to feel festive.

spray painted pumpkins and used craft paint to free hand embellish with circles and stripes

finished product on the porch

candy corn wreath from last year

i mod podged scrapbook paper on these letters a few years ago. they used to go on a shelf at my old place. since there's no shelf here, i tied ribbon and hung them on the door.

ashley's pumpkins...so cute. once i saw hers, i HAD to have make my own.

pendant banner

I've been wanting to make one of these for a while. The co-worker's 1 year anniversary turned out to be the perfect occasion. I love how it turned out. Best part is that it's reversible.
