skip work and craft...maxi skirt

i thought i posted this on Friday, but i guess i didn't. oops...

Yesterday was skip work and craft day. Lots of various things came up so we didn't get started until later. It was a small craft day but still full of fun. Mikael and I made these maxi skirts. I started with this pin which led to another tutorial. We changed it a little so I'm pretty much no help on the tutorial part. We kind of followed the tutorial until the band part. We were getting a little confused so we just sewed wrong sides together and it seemed to work out. It was pretty easy and so comfy. I want one in every color. Next up...maxi dress.

another gender reveal...waddle it be???

in the words of co-worker jessica's facebook status a few weeks ago... After 13 years of marriage, 200% infertility and three adopted children, I am 14 weeks pregnant! Shock of a lifetime, my friends--shock of a lifetime.

the excitement of this event definitely warranted a gender reveal cake for the co-workers. celsey and i decided the "waddle it be" theme was way too cute and fun not to use again.

transporting the cake took a little creativity

it's a GIRL! so fun to finally make a pink cake.

welcome banner

co-worker becca is having a baby any day now. former co-worker nicole is coming to cover her maternity leave. becca decided last second she wanted to do something to her desk to make nicole feel welcome. being the crafty one means people look for me when they want a craft especially a last second craft. we literally had 30 minutes to pull something together. luckily we have a die cut machine with the perfect shapes for a neon welcome banner. we pulled together a few office supplies and voila...we have a welcome nicole banner.

Supposed to be a card

Co-worker Marsha asked me to make a going away card for other co-worker Angie. I wanted to say no. I really wanted to say no, but I couldn't/didn't. In true over the top fashion, it turned into more of a book. It's cute and simple.

Skip Work and Craft

Friday was skip work and craft day. We had a pretty good turn out and made some great projects. Holly crocheted premie hats. Aly made baby Brown some burp clothes. Charity did some mending. Michelle and Kimber made earrings, and Kimber made a skirt and shirt. Brianna, Mikael and I made felt bows, and I made some buttons. I love skip work and craft day!

multiple project craft day

We wanted to get in one more skip work and craft day before Brianna had her baby so after lots of arranging we found a day. Most people didn't end up making it even Brianna, but we did some great projects.

Kimber's dessert stands. She found plates and stands at DI and spray painted them red. I think I NEED them.

ribbon and felt flower belt. how to here

necklaces from ties. to die for cute. Mikael the self proclaimed uncrafty one found this tutorial, and made her own darling necklace. i must make more of these.

I really really love craft day. It makes me feel just a little bit like a stay at home crafter.

food craft

I made these darling ice cream cone cake pops for Chelsea's bday back in April and have been wanting to make them again ever since. I figured co-workers' Aly and Michelle's bday was the perfect excuse. It seems most good ideas have a little complication.

First the majority of the box of mini ice cream cones was completely crushed. Since it's Sunday, I had to come up with plan B...ice cream cones turned ice cream sundae. I bought 2 bags of m&ms and ended up with 19 red ones. Luckily I found another bag in my kitchen. I wanted to scream a few times along the way, but I've already practically forgotten what a pain in the rear they were and will most definitely make them again.

kiddie craft

I saw this fun rice craft on a random blog and have been dying to try it with the little tykes. It's so simple and so fun.
1. Put about 1/3 c rice in ziploc
2. Squirt hand sanitizer or rubbing alcohol in bag...just enough to set the color
3. Put food coloring or paint in bag
4. Squish to mix
5. Play

mylar flowers

Michelle and I decorated co-worker Mikael's desk for her birthday. We made a poster from butcher paper that needed a little something else. I love love love how these mylar flowers turned out and will definitely make them again. I used strips of mylar and rolled them like the fabric flowers. I used tape to hold them together. So cute!

Baby Crafts

Today was skip work and craft day. I loved every single second of it. We made baby onesies and burp cloths (picture 1-me, picture 2-Kimber), and they turned out so cute I could die.

Spring Break Craft Day

Yesterday was craft day at co-worker Kimber's house. Aly found a tutorial (which i will post as soon as i find it) for these very cute skirts, and we have been dreaming of spring break ever since. We spent the day crafting and sewing and laughing and having fun. I love having such fun co-workers.

i'm pretty proud of my first attempt at sewing apparel. the skirt was actually pretty easy, and i can't wait to make another one with aly tomorrow.

Recent Crafts

Isn't this the cutest little tyke you have ever seen? Cole started having seizures when he was 10 months old. His family recently found out he is going to have brain surgery next month in Ohio. Everyone has high hopes that this surgery will change Cole's life for the better. Cole's parents are organizing some fundraisers to help offset the cost of the coming months.

I spent the weekend making some crafts for the silent auction they are planning in the next couple of weeks. Go here to read all about Cole, his story, and what you can do to help (silent auction, 5k, concert).

I dropped off the stuff I made to Cole's mom yesterday. She was so sweet and appreciative, and I know she and her husband would appreciate help from others.
