i've never really gotten all into the cupcake fad...cake pops..yes but cupcakes..not so much. co-worker brittanie made these cupcakes for another co-worker's birthday.  the broccoli is made from green tootsie rolls dipped in frosting and sprinkles. the noodles are piped on frosting. her goal is to be more crafty. i would say mission accomplished. i nearly died when she showed me the picture.

Thank you sugardoodle for helping me with my young women lessons. I wish I had more time to be as crafty as I would like to be, but for now I am glad there is something to get me started. I taught a lesson on Sunday about reaching out to others and being a light. The website had this handout. I added an orange border and tied it to a candle....pretty simple.

Doily Cards

somehow this post got a little forgotten about last week

I saw these on pinterest forever ago and have been dying to make them ever since. Brianna and I finally made them last night. They are so easy and cute. Literally anyone can make these. We added chalk to some, and those are my favorite.

Coconut Oil

i have always sworn that mary kay eye makeup remover is the only way to go. a few months ago i saw a random blog post (wish i could remember where) about the uses of coconut oil. i started cooking with it a couple years ago and really love it, but i never thought about using it for other things. it is the most amazing eye makeup remover. try it. i promise you won't be disappointed.

Maxi Dress

ever since i saw this maxi dress post, i have been dying literally dying to make it. it looked so easy, and it really is. katy at is one of my favorite crafty bloggers. her tutorials are so easy to follow. this dress really is so easy and anyone can make it. all you need is 2 yards of white jersey knit fabric, thread, and rit dye in your color of choice. celsey and i added sewing to our monday night tradition, and michelle joined us. we sewed 3 dresses, ate dinner, and watched the bach. i'm already dying to make another one...this time shorter to wear with leggings. what color should i do and who wants to make one with me?

i LOVE rit dye although i felt a little like the jolly green giant wearing it

Girl Baby Gift

church friend paige had a baby shower back in april. since i couldn't make it to the shower i never finished the baby gift. i found these itty bitty flip flops at old navy and sincerely just about died. i made this birdie onesie a while ago and decided to make a matchy matchy skirt. i already made the itty bitty felt bow that is barely showing in the corner. i sewed this and a few other itty bitties tonight. i just finished cleaning it all up, when i got a text from paige saying baby aspen is here. talk about perfect timing. can't wait to see her in this little number. all this girl baby stuff nearly kills me it's so cute.

Itty Bitty Baby Skirts

The last time I made these skirts I never got around to posting a link to the tutorial. I searched online and found this tutorial. I actually liked it better than what I did last time. This time I gathered the top by pinning like crazy...more pinning than I have done in any other project. ever, but it worked. Last time I gathered by doing a basting stitch and pulling. I kept breaking the thread. This was was much easier. It definitely helped that these are the itty bittiest things I have ever seen. Someone have a girl baby fast.

dinner happenings

I went to dinner with a couple friends at Cafe Shambala in the avenues the other night. All of a sudden I saw a line of 10 ish people and thought it was ROTC or something. It ended up being the police. I was so distracted at dinner trying to figure out what in the world was happening. We never did find out. After 2 hours of standing around talking, they all piled in a minivan and left. So weird!

crafting piles

Life is so busy lately. I feel like I've been running my crazy busy head off which leaves very minimal time for crafting. I have several projects in process=crafting piles. I'm hoping to finish up a few things soon...very soon.

skip work and craft...maxi skirt

i thought i posted this on Friday, but i guess i didn't. oops...

Yesterday was skip work and craft day. Lots of various things came up so we didn't get started until later. It was a small craft day but still full of fun. Mikael and I made these maxi skirts. I started with this pin which led to another tutorial. We changed it a little so I'm pretty much no help on the tutorial part. We kind of followed the tutorial until the band part. We were getting a little confused so we just sewed wrong sides together and it seemed to work out. It was pretty easy and so comfy. I want one in every color. Next up...maxi dress.
