i just realized i never posted this and apparently i never blogged when I made this originally with bonny. these clutches turned out a wee bit bigger than i originally thought. i'll probably use it for a baby gift instead. i decided to add a little embellishment. i made a few fabric flowers and stuck 2 rhinestones in the middle. everything's better with a little bling.

Spring Wreaths
whenever i go to chelsea's house lately, the craft of choice seems to be a wreath. we've made
heart wreath for valentine's day
4th of july wreath
i made her a burlap wreath for christmas a couple years ago
we're starting to get a lot of the holidays/seasons covered
this time we wanted a spring wreath
i got on pinterest and started with this as our inspiration

this time we wanted a spring wreath

we went with spring colored yarn to start
we used a straw wreath (they're the cheapest) from michaels with a 50% off coupon
the yarn is also from michaels and was on sale
wrap the wreath in yarn. i started measuring to make the stripes but ended up kind of eye balling it. it's not perfect, but it worked out ok
i used the same technique as the heart wreath to make the white flowers. i bought 1/8 yd of white felt and used almost all of it, but now i can see my flowers are much closer together than the above wreath
chelsea did multi-colored flowers. she bought the sheets of felt for $0.33 cents each
she used this tutorial for the spiral flowers
i love that they are both so different but but both so cute
we spent around $6-8 per wreath. definitely better to make than buy.

days 11-15
#monthofhairaccessories
This week has been super warm. Even though this hair challenge is kind of kicking me in the rear, the warm weather kind of makes up for everything else. I've also been wearing green all week since tomorrow is St. Patrick's Day. Apparently I have enough green clothes to last a month. I have a ton more things I haven't even worn.

my current fave...high bun with felt flower

fish tail with a little bit of regular braid in the middle with felt bow

remember topsy tails from back in the day??? it's so hard to see, but i did a topsy tail then a bun at the bottom with a silk flower

another high bun with silk twisty flower

Skip Work and Craft
Friday was skip work and craft day. We had a pretty good turn out and made some great projects. Holly crocheted premie hats. Aly made baby Brown some burp clothes. Charity did some mending. Michelle and Kimber made earrings, and Kimber made a skirt and shirt. Brianna, Mikael and I made felt bows, and I made some buttons. I love skip work and craft day!

Craft Night
Here are the results of craft night #1. I'm kind of dying at how cute these turned out. I haven't had a keychain for years, but I'm pretty excited about this.
We kind of used this tutorial, but I sort of forgot to look at it. We ended up changing it up a little. I love the jewel in the middle.

They are super easy. Anyone can make them...promise. Check out the tutorial here, and then come to my house next week and make them.

multiple project craft day
We wanted to get in one more skip work and craft day before Brianna had her baby so after lots of arranging we found a day. Most people didn't end up making it even Brianna, but we did some great projects.
Kimber's dessert stands. She found plates and stands at DI and spray painted them red. I think I NEED them.
ribbon and felt flower belt. how to here
necklaces from ties. to die for cute. Mikael the self proclaimed uncrafty one found this tutorial, and made her own darling necklace. i must make more of these.
I really really love craft day. It makes me feel just a little bit like a stay at home crafter.

4th of July wreath
I went down to Vegas for summer break this week. Chelsea mentioned she might want to make a 4th of July wreath so I brought some stuff down. We found something similar to this on Pinterest (my new obsession) and got to work. The worst part of the whole thing was wrapping the wreath in yarn.
Chelsea's wreath

Chelsea's turned out so cute I had to make my own

Supplies
wreath form (we used the straw kind because they're the cheapest)
white yarn
red and blue embroidery thread (to wrap around the wreath)
red, white, and blue pins (to stick the circles and stars in the wreath...instead of hot glue)
red, white, blue, and confederate flag bandanas (hobby lobby for $0.99 each)
various red, white, blue material
blue ribbon
How to
wrap wreath form in white yarn (if you do it thick you might only have to do 1 layer)
cut stars and circles from material and bandanas
wrap embroidery thread around wreath weaving back and forth as you go
arrange circles and stars on side of wreath and pin in place
hang wreath with ribbon and attach circle at top (pin into knot to hold in place)
so easy and so cute!

mylar flowers
Michelle and I decorated co-worker Mikael's desk for her birthday. We made a poster from butcher paper that needed a little something else. I love love love how these mylar flowers turned out and will definitely make them again. I used strips of mylar and rolled them like the fabric flowers. I used tape to hold them together. So cute!

late night crafting
My bedroom floor turned into craft zone tonight. Co-worker Alyssa needs some flowers for her sister's wedding later his week. Turns out crafting because I have to isn't as much fun as crafting because I want to. I think they turned out pretty cute even though it's late night crafting.

Baby Wipes Cases
Homemade baby gifts are so much better if you ask me (the person with no kids). Making things cuter is always better too. My newest favorite is baby wipes cases. They are so easy and so cute.
1. cover top of case with batting, doesn't have to be exact but you don't want it to hang over the edge. hot glue down.
2. cut material to cover top and bottom. i usually trace around the edge of the case.
3. hot glue material to top and bottom. make sure you don't glue the case shut.
4. hot glue ribbon around the edges (2 ribbons. 1 for the top and 1 for the bottom). embellish with ribbon, flowers, etc.
there you have it... cute homemade baby gift

Recent Crafts
Isn't this the cutest little tyke you have ever seen? Cole started having seizures when he was 10 months old. His family recently found out he is going to have brain surgery next month in Ohio. Everyone has high hopes that this surgery will change Cole's life for the better. Cole's parents are organizing some fundraisers to help offset the cost of the coming months.

I spent the weekend making some crafts for the silent auction they are planning in the next couple of weeks. Go here to read all about Cole, his story, and what you can do to help (silent auction, 5k, concert).
I dropped off the stuff I made to Cole's mom yesterday. She was so sweet and appreciative, and I know she and her husband would appreciate help from others.
